On 6th July 1988, the oil production platform Piper Alpha was destroyed by an explosion, killing 167 people. To mark this tragic event’s thirty year anniversary, Local Studies are putting together an exhibition showcasing items from our reserve stock. The exhibition will be on display in the Information Centre, Central Library throughout July.
