About the Inner Yoga Trust Foundation Year, The Structure and Practice of Yoga:
The course is both practical and experiential, focussing on the different parts of the body to enable students to learn about how anatomy applies to the asanas (postures). It also gives an introduction to both pranayama (breathing), meditation, philosophy, and touches on all aspects of yoga as relevant to the people in the group. The course attracts people with a wide variety of yoga and life experience making the groups lively and interesting to be part of.
The Foundation Year forms the first part of the 'Scaravelli Inspired' 500-hour Yoga Teacher Training Diploma Course. Each weekend looks at the structure of the asanas together with the structure of the skeleton. Students are supported to develop a personal practice, and encouraged to keep a reflective journal of their observations and experience.
Who is the course for?
The Structure and Practice of Yoga is open to people who wish to deepen their own practice and knowledge of yoga and to explore their own personal development through yoga. Ideally you will have been practising yoga for a minimum of two years. For those people who are interested in training to become a yoga teacher, completion of this course is a requirement before joining Year 2, The Path of Yoga and then Year 3, Passing the Teaching On.
The dates for 2018/19 course weekends are as follows:
Feet and Ankles
Hips and Pelvis
Chest and Breastbone
Britta Stahlmann has been practicing yoga since 2005, teaching general classes and workshops since 2009, after completing the IYT Foundation Course and the IYT Teacher's Awareness Programme (now the IYT 500 hrs Teacher Training Diploma).
Britta continues to be inspired by the teachings of Pauline Sawyer (now Pauline Corbett) and Jenny Beeken. Britta is keen for others to experience for themselves how yoga can help to bring balance to the body, mind and spirit.
