Come and try the new and exciting dog sport — DOG PARKOUR!
Dog parkour is simply put the performance of obedience on top of, underneath, or between certain obstacles. Your dog only needs to know the most basic commands from general obedience to be able to perform dog parkour.
What makes dog parkour different from general obedience or more advanced tricks training is how you use your environment and incorporate it into your training. Teaching your dog to interact with its nearby environment can increase its own self-esteem as well as your mutual teamwork.
As I will talk a little about at the event, dog parkour will also decrease certain anxieties in dogs and prevent them from occurring through proper teambuilding and confidence boosts. The wonderful thing about dog parkour is that you can train this absolutely anywhere! So really, there is no excuse not to try.
Benefits of training dog parkour:
-You can greatly improve your dog’s general and fine motor skills.
-It will improve your dog’s confidence.
-Improve your dog’s blood circulation.
-Any dog can do this
-It never gets boring and your dog will absolutely LOVE being with you
We will be training in Westburn Park in Aberdeen for 1,5 hours on Saturday the 20th October from 10am to 11:30am.
I will be bringing some obstacles for us to use, but it would help immensely if you could all try and bring some different kinds of platforms, buckets, or other objects that the dogs could stand on. Hula-hoops or plastic cones are also great for dog parkour as well as umbrellas or other pole-like objects.
